Oklahoma Sooners Football Recruiting / Recruiting Reset: Who Will Finish Out Class of 2015?

National Signing Day is exactly 3 weeks from today. Tomorrow marks the ends of the Dead Period (basically no contact between coaches and recruits). The Sooners currently sit at 19 commitments and are looking to add multiple prospects between now and February 4th. While it’s impossible to predict with complete accuracy what will happen between now and then, I thought that I would take a stab at what prospects remain on the Sooners recruiting board. The Sooners could add between 6-8 additional prospects between now and they will most likely come from this list.

1. OL Josh Wariboko

Josh Wariboko

Josh is down to the OU, UCLA, and Ohio State. Most assume this will be a Bruin and Sooner battle, but Ohio State winning the playoff doesn’t hurt their chances. Wariboko will decide on National Signing Day. Prediction: Sooners, but this is very close.

2. LB Josh Smith

Josh Smith

Josh is a big-time linebacker recruit who is currently committed to Vanderbilt but that commitment is very soft. He will visit Ole Miss and the Sooners for sure. Smith could easily be the most important recruit remaining on the Sooners board. Prediction: Sooners, although it wouldn’t shock me to see him stick with Vandy.

3. LB Arthur McGinnis

arthur mcginnis

The talented New Orleans linebacker appears to be down Zona, A&M, TTech, and the Sooners. If Josh Smith is the most important recruit left on the Sooners board, than McGinnis is the second. Look for McGinnis to visit the Sooners the weekend before National Signing Day. Prediction: Sooners assuming that he doesn’t visit A&M

4.DL DaiShon Neal

daishon neal

DaiShon is currently a soft Nebraska commit who has visits lined up to OU and Oregon. He will be in Norman this weekend. Predicition: Sooners, but he is giving Nebraska every shot to keep him.

5. DL Du’Vonta Lampkin

Lampkin

The former Sooner commitment is now committed to the Longhorns. He is still considering the Sooners. He is best friends with Sooner DB Offer  Nate Dalton. Prediction: A flip to the Sooners

6. DL Darrion Daniels

Darrion will probably end up being the odd man out. Although if Lampkin ends up sticking with the Longhorns, I could easily see him a part of this class. Prediction: TTech or Iowa

7. DB Justin Reid

Justin Reid

The Louisiana native is down to ND, Stanford, OU, and Notre Dame. Prediction: Stanford

8. DB Nate Dalton

Nate is a high school teammate of Du’Vonta Lampkin. Nate recently released his top 6

Top 6: Army,Oklahoma,Kentucky,Arkansans,Liberty,and Michigan #NoOrder

Prediction: Sooners

9. DB Darreyl Patterson

Patterson recently picked up a Sooner offer. The Lawton, OK product will visit the Sooners this weekend. Prediction: Sooners

10. DB Antoine Stephens

Antoine has seen his recruitment taken off. He was supposed to announce his commit on Thursday Jan. 15th, but has pushed it back. He will visit the Sooners this weekend. He is down to OU, Baylor, and TTech.  Prediction: Sooners.

11. DB Kareem Orr

Kareem has visited the Sooners already, but has visits lined up to Clemson and Arizona St. Prediction: ASU

___________________________________________________

12. DB Dechaun Holiday

OU has no chance. UCLA, USC, or ASU. Prediction: UCLA

___________________________________________________

13. LB Anthony McKee

Anthony McKee visited the Sooners for the Tennessee game. Supposedly the Sooners led, but look for him to end up at Michigan St. or Wisconsin. Predicition: Michigan St.

___________________________________________________

14. JUCO WR Dominique Reed

Dominique will visit the Sooners this weekend, but look for him to stay in the SEC at Arkansas. Predicition: Arkansas

15. QB Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray

Although it would be great to land him, with the recent transfer of Kenny Hill, Kyler appears to be all but locked into the Aggies. Oh well it was fun while it lasted. Prediction: Stays committed to A&M

16. WR Desean Holmes

While he would be a great fit in Lincoln Riley’s offense, look for him to remain on the west coast. Prediction: Not sure but not the Sooners

17. LB Dwaine Thomas

He currently doesn’t have an offer, but I’m betting he picks one up in the next few weeks. He has seen his recruitment pick up. Thomas will visit A&M this weekend. Assuming he doesn’t pick up an offer and commit, the Sooners should be in the driver’s seat with an offer. That being said my Prediction: A&M or TTech

18. OL  Maea Teuhema

The current LSU commit is related to Nila Kasitati, but his older brother is currently at LSU. Prediction: Sticks with LSU

19. WR Van Jefferson

Van will be visiting the Sooners this weekend, but will not end up at OU barring a miracle. Prediction: UGA or Tenn

__________________________________________________

There will be others that get added and this list is not going to end up completely accurate. This is my best guess based on where things stand. This would give the Sooners a total of 27 commitments that would break down like this.

RB- 1

WR- 2

TE- 1

OL- 6

DL- 6

LB- 3

DB- 7

K- 1
